Socks Without Mates...
Currently, there are five members. In the past there have been as many as 13. Some have been in the club for years... like that poor bastard on the left. He hasn't seen his mate since 2003. Some are new to the club, only just having experienced the loss of their mate... like Turtle sock on the right.
Some socks belong to the same extended family but are just cousins. I've been tempted to mate them, but that just seems wrong. So they remain on the back of my couch, ever hopeful that their mate might someday magically appear.
And sometimes they do...
Just the other day I found one sock's mate tucked into the corner of one of my fitted bed sheets. How long it had been there, hiding out, I have no idea...
And maybe it had it's reasons for not immediately returning to it's mate. Drinking? Drugs? Domestic sock abuse? One never really knows what goes on in the darkness of the sock drawer...
But now it is back and really making an effort to work things out and not separate again. Perhaps I should suggest counseling?
Either way, only time will tell if they stay together... and if any of the SWM's will see their long-lost loved ones again...
It is sad when a sock loses it's mate.. It is especially tragic when you loose a baby sock!! Is there a sock CPS if someone suspects you abuse a baby sock so bad that it decides to run away? I hope not..

Goes to show how often YOU change your sheets!!! ~Clown
ReplyDeleteThose sheets had been washed many times. The sock was just devious in it's deception...
ReplyDeletewell I know it was not off on a clandestine meeting in any effort to make BABY socks.. if it was you could be RICH selling single (opps Adopting out) baby socks to those of us with only one baby sock and no money to buy another pair..
