What in the nub is that?

I have two dogs. Both are "nubby" dogs. My own little nubby herd, if you will. And because of that, the word nub gets used in my house. A lot...

And now I have RR doing it too...

Basically you can take any saying and insert the word nub and it's instantly nubtastic (see what I did there? I said nubtastic instead of fantastic and you laughed)...

Here are a few more off the top of my head:

Calm thy nub...
No nub is good nub...
I am nub, hear me roar...
Supernub...
I nub you...
How deep is your nub?
Be still, thy nub...
Stop. In the name of nub...
To thy own nub, be true...
A nub in the hand is worth two pooping in the bush...
A nub in time, saves 9 (or it could be 10... not sure)
Nub not, lest ye be nubbed...
Let he who is without sin cast the first nub...
Sweet nubbin'...
Twas the nub before Christmas...

I could go on and on, but I think I've tortured you enough for one posting... So, good nub to you.

I need a kick in the ass...

A bunch of weeks ago I talked about losing weight... and how I was going to lose it.

Well, that was a fail. I did lose a few pounds and then proceeded to put them right back on again... plus a few more. So, I need to get serious about this weight loss biz. My joints hurt, my back hurts, my nerves aren't happy. This body was not made to carry around this kinda weight.

So, what do you do when you can't afford a gym membership? I have managed to stay away from the fast food this week. I need to stay away from it permanently. And I still walk in the mornings... most days, that is.

So, what to do? What to do? I probably need a trainer and a gym. But can't afford it...

What are my alternatives?

A big disappointment...

I was so looking forward to the Rapture... then I wouldn't have had to come to work today. Or do laundry and vacuum my floor yesterday.

Such a disappointment.

Worst. Rapture. Ever.

We have a winner...

RR, Noelle, Daisy and I had a good time at the Mutt Masters Dog Show yesterday. Noelle competed in Tail Wag Champ, Most Unusual Pet Trick and Fabulous Frisbee Catcher. Daisy tried her paw at Most Distinguished Elder and Best Handshake (couldn't find the lobster costume, dang it).

There was a good turn out to the show and the sun actually came out for most of the day...

I even got a sunburn.

There was some big competition, but I was ready to go and show the rest of these mutts what we could do...

That is a big dog...

In the Tail Wag Champ class, Noelle was totally distracted by the lady next to us who had hot dogs. Rather than massive nub wagging, there was massive drooling. Not what the judges wanted to see... We didn't place.

Next was Fabulous Frisbee Catcher. Now Noelle (up until yesterday) had never tried to catch a frisbee... in fact, I'm not sure she had even seen one.

Hey, look what I found...

Foodz?

After I got her to understand that we catch the frisbee not eat the frisbee, she did quite well. Unfortunately, once we got into the ring to show our stuff I biffed it by throwing it into the ground twice. On our third go she made a great catch, but it was too little too late. So, I lost that one for us...

(hangs head in shame)

Then is was Daisy's turn to try her paws at a couple of classes. However, she wasn't super interested in performing for the crowd...

Busy napping. Come back later...

Needless to say, she didn't make it into the ribbons. Oh well...

Then it was Noelle's turn to wow the judges with her Most Unusual Pet Trick... crawling.

I totally am gonna nail it...

And she did!! She took 2nd place...

Marshmallow: Look Daisy... 2nd place!!
Daisy: Where's my ribbon?

Marshmallow: I am awesome...
Daisy: Whatever. It was a stupid trick...

Marshmallow: You're just jealous...
Daisy: Just wait 'til next year, mutt...

It was a ton of fun... Can't wait to do it again next year.

Are you ready?

So, tomorrow is the rapture apparently.

Which really bums me out because I've entered the pups in the Mutt Masters Dog Show and was planning on really cleaning up... I've entered Noelle in the Tail Wag Champ class (sure it's a nub... but she really wags it well), Fabulous Frisbee Catcher and Unusual Pet Trick (she crawls on her belly and it's hilarious... sure to win over even the grouchiest judge). Daisy will be competing in Most Distinguished Elder, Best Handshake and Best Dressed (if I can find her lobster costume before tomorrow). Perhaps the rapture will wait until after the dog show? It's over by 4pm...

Speaking of rapture, RR and I made it out to the beach last night for a fabulous ride...

Flash, move your ears...

My ears? What about 'em?

Noelle... get outta the picture. Sheesh...

Perfect! Except for the lighting...

My feeble attempt at an "action" shot...

Better. Still not great...

RR had a little better luck than I did...

Almost...

Not quite...

Better...

Hmmm... I think the last one was better...

I guess if the rapture really is tomorrow, then this wasn't a bad way to spend the last few days. Plus it gave me an opportunity to get more horse ear pics...

Good ears. Background, not so much...

Flash, it's helpful if you aren't shaking your head...

Good background. Ears, not so much...

Almost...

Perfect!! That's a keeper...

And RR and I watched the sun go down on horseback. It was great...

Perfect end to the end of the world, if you ask me...

Oh yeah...

The sun is shining and I'm totally going for a ride after work. Can't wait!!

Sometimes life just sucks...

My twin, Wildflower, has been having a rough time lately. For the past year or so she's been dating a guy who she thought might be "the one". And up until a month ago, she was even feeling so good about the relationship that she though he might soon propose...

That didn't happen.

Not only did that not happen, he then informed her that he didn't feel that "long-term spark" (whatever the hell that is). She asked why. After all, he loved their time together, their hobbies, the stuff that made them them... but he said it wasn't enough.

He told her that if she wanted to just do a day-by-day thing that was fine, but in August when he was leaving for a few months he wanted to be single.

Wisely, she told him to stick it in his ear...

But, understandably, she's heartbroken. And I feel so bad for her. And I want to kick him. That whole "the grass is greener... " thing just pisses me off. But we've all fallen victim to it. It just sucks that he had to do that to my twin.

GRRRRRR

Wanna see my low tide?

I know you do :)

While out walking the pups this morning, I couldn't help but go explore all the nooks and crannies that are normally under many feet of ocean. It was fascinating...

But first I made the pups pose on the normally-not-there rocks...

But I don't wanna pose...

Ok fine. But I'm bored...

I am smiling, mom. Leave me alone...

Why must I lower myself to such levels?

Although I do look quite majestic standing on these rocks...

Marshmallow: Whatever, Daisy. I look way better...
Daisy: I'm imitating a statue...

Marshmallow: Plus I'm up front. See?
Daisy: Still not moving...

Marshmallow: Hey, what's that over there?
Daisy: Statue

Marshmallow: Smells interesting...
Daisy: Still here...

Daisy: Now I'm the star...
Marshmallow: Pffftttt... whatever...

Daisy: Don't make me tackle you marshmallow...
Marshmallow: Whatever...

 I'm outta here...

Aha!! Food...

I swear the Marshmallow can find edibles anywhere. It's her gift...

Moving on to the good stuff. Time to reveal the shady underbelly of the ocean and what really goes on when there's 3 feet of water covering the rocks...

OK... this is not that seedy...

But look at the size of those starfish...

And muscles...

They are huge...

I'm pretty sure we have a starfish orgy going on here...

Yup. And not just starfish under this particular rock...

That's a lot of starfish...

After witnessing such depravity, it was time to round up the dogs and face the staircase of terror...

I hate that staircase...

It takes forever to get to the top...

But once there, the view is quite nice...

Plus it shows how low the tide really is...

On days like today, life is a beach...
